La Story
In the Summer of Love of 1969, with a gleam in his eye and a spatula in his hand, Dario Pescatore opened the doors to a little gelateria with a big personality. Set in the picturesque Italian region of Palma di Sorgente, he named it Gelato-A-Go-Go. And it wasn’t just about serving the most flavorsome gelato - it was about creating a vibe.
Dario was a true original - part romantic Italian gentleman, part rock 'n' roll rebel, and full-time bon vivant. He believed in three things: peace, love, and gelato - and Dario was a master at making all three!
Dario Pescatore:
The man, the myth, the moustache…
Always dressed to impress, Dario cut a striking figure in his tight body shirts, perfectly fitted trousers, and his trademark silk bandanna tied just-so around his neck. Today, every member of our “Squadra Di Spatole” (or Spatula Squad) proudly wears a neck bandanna - a tribute to our founder’s signature style and swagger.
With his dear mama’s homemade gelato recipes in hand, he dreamt up the name and logo, sketching those bold, sassy lips on a napkin one night during a particularly hot date. To him, the mouth was sacred - it was how we share stories, express love, and taste gelato. The lips were a perfect symbol of everything Gelato-A-Go-Go stood for… connection, pleasure, and indulgence.
Through Dario’s dedication, Gelato-A-Go-Go quickly became the neighborhood hotspot, a place where locals gathered, lovers met, music played, flavors danced, and no one left without a smile (or a phone number).
Today, Gelato-A-Go-Go remains inspired by Dario’s original spark, as people continue to connect, vibe, laugh, and indulge in the simple pleasures of the finest artisanal Italian gelato - because after all, life is for living… and licking!
